The internet in 60 seconds
The internet in 60 seconds
Through a combined global effort, we manage to get a lot from a minute’s worth of browsing and streaming.
Are you ever surprised by the amount of webpage visits you’ve clocked up when going back through your search history, or are you figuring out if you are among the average smart phone user who picks up their device 85 times a day?
There’s a lot of activity going on in and around the internet at any given time – almost too much to measure. But Culmulus Media’s Lori Lewis and Chadd Callahan have somehow managed it and collated figures which show just what takes place online in one minute:
- 40,000 hours listening to Spotify
- 70,000 hours watching Netflix
- 900,000 Facebook logins
- 342, 000 apps downloaded
- 3.5 million searches conducted
- 156 million emails sent
- 990,000 swipes on Tinder
- 452,000 tweets sent
The volume of this interaction may seem a lot, but is just a portion of the almost 4 billion people who use the internet and 2.8 billion who are active on social media.
Make sure that you’re staying safe online and protecting your business and customer data if you rely on the internet for your work.
For all the traffic flowing to different areas online, there are disrupters who are capable of creating expensive problems with very little effort.
