Several members of the Lockyers team have set themselves the challenge of completing a 10k run (or in some cases walk with our own dogs) in July 2021 to support the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Dogs are the favourite pets for the Lockyers team, at the last count we own over 20 dogs between us. Hearing dogs make an enormous difference to life for deaf people. In addition to alerting deaf people to important and life-saving sounds these amazing dogs can also help combat isolation, stress and loneliness which are critical issues in the current state of our world.

Alison with Hearing Dog Damson, tells us “I applied to Hearing Dogs UK and was matched with my beautiful Damson in June 2019. She has completely changed my life, a piece of me that I had long ago forgotten has come back. Every day I feel more confident and proud of my deafness.

She is so much more than my ears, more than I can put into words. I am so incredibly thankful to Hearing Dogs for bringing her into my life, she is a light in the darkness and never fails to put a smile on my face.”
